about the author

Hi, my name is Kiley and I'm rather short in stature. As nature always tries to find balance, I have been gifted a rather loud voice and a feisty personality to make up for the lack of height. I have always been somewhat of a passionate person for those things which sparked my interest and intrigue. At various times in my life this may have come across to some as aggressive or angry, but I found a place to channel that energy when I discovered Martial Arts at age 19. I have been training ever since which is going on 30 yrs.

Why do I write...?

At high school I was told that my writing was just average which resulted in me putting it aside somewhat in the assumption that there was no point in pursuing it. I always felt the pull to write down poems to help deal with my teenage angst however, and later in life the writing helped me to organise my thoughts and feelings, even if this writing never saw the light of day outside of my journals. It was for me, and my own healing.

Years later......working with clients in my other passion of Martial Arts and Personal Training, the need to arrange my thoughts into some form of a handout turned into a journey of writing my first book. This book is not a masterpiece of any kind, however I've had fantastic feedback from it- and it does hit on the ideal of not needing to be perfect for its greater purpose to be fulfilled.

This first book Mother Lover Woman Warrior lit the fire in my belly and gave me the confidence to continue to pursue this writing knowing that everyone has stories inside them that will resonate with another, and that we offer nothing to the world by keeping this all to ourselves. In igniting our own light - we give others the confidence to do the same. My hope is that my books spark something inside of others, perhaps annoyance, a laugh, a feeling of common ground, or indeed a question. Ultimately, I think we all just want to make a change in the world for the better and leave a mark (or two) for posterity.

Much Love, Kiley Baker
