About us

Although I would much prefer someone of reputation and greater standing than myself write this section, we all must work within our means. I will now attempt (somewhat awkwardly no doubt) to tell you something a little more about me, so you understand the voice behind my writing a little more perhaps. Or.....maybe you're just interested and inquisitive, and a tiny bit of a sticky nose (aren't we all) and that's totally ok too!

Hi, my name is Kiley and I'm rather short in stature. As nature always tries to find balance, I have been gifted a rather loud voice and a feisty personality to make up for the lack of height. I have always been somewhat of a passionate person for those things which sparked my interest and intrigue. At various times in my life this may have come across to some as aggressive or angry, but I found a place to channel that energy when I discovered Martial Arts at age 19. I have been training ever since which is going on 30 yrs

I now own and manage my own Dojo (Japanese word for training hall), and that is my real and full time proper job. I love that my kids have been able to come with me to work (especially helpful when they were very young and I was a single mum), and to see them train and develop through something I love has been wonderful to watch. It makes me proud. I love too seeing how it's so much more than just simply Martial Arts, and how the disciplines can really change a person's life for the better

I also like trying to make art. I have many hobbies and wish I could devote more time to them all. My dream is to one day have a small and dedicated studio /Gallery /shop which can be my creative space. The Ying to my Yang. The space in which I can write, paint, create, run small workshops, and nurture the imagination of myself  and those that visit. I still remember being fascinated by the idea of fairies and ghosts and magic when I was young, and one very special fairy shop comes to mind. I would like my space to feel like that. Like anything was possible.

Till then....I shall teach, train, mother, learn, laugh, cry, laundry, cook, clean.......and on the side fit in some reading and writing and all the other stuff & ; till I make it.
